What we ask of you, and what you can ask of us.

Safety

No coach messages a student privately, head coach included. The one exception is running a practice round. Everything else happens where the team can see it.

If something feels wrong, tell a coach, tell a parent, or write to skepticalprep@gmail.com.

What this is

Skeptical is a free debate team in Florida, run by its coaches. It is not a business, not a company and not part of any school. If you use this site or join the team, this is how we work.

Being on the team

Free. Prep, coaching, scrims, the team. The only money is tournament money: an entry fee at some of them, a judge fee if we cannot cover you, the odd tab fee. Those are paid to the tournaments, not to us.

Stay active. Add your own files, and anything good you have collected. Get on the caselist. Put skepticalprep@gmail.com on every email chain.

The prep

The drive is private. No leaking, no trading team docs, no selling, no taking it with you. You keep the rights to your own work, and you let the team use what you add, for the team.

Disclosure

Tech rounds go on the caselist, bid tournament or not. Novice prep stays off it for the first season. Nothing hits the caselist until a coach has read it, and prep does not leave the team any other way.

Conduct

No grief. Respect people, on the team and across the table. No harassment, no threats, no hate, no sharing anyone’s private information.

Removal

Removal is the head coach plus the coaching staff, together, not one person on a bad day. You can leave any time, and ask for what we hold on you to be deleted.

The application

Tell the truth about your name, grade and experience. One application per person, and only for yourself. A student in 7th grade or below cannot apply through the site; a parent writes to us instead. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian knows you are applying.

An application is not a promise. Coaches decide: accept, ask for an interview, or decline. A decline comes with a reason when a coach has one.

Do not break the portal, read anyone else’s application, or send junk. Discord requires users 13 or older and has its own terms.

This site

It describes the team as it is, and changes when the team does. The site and the portal can break or go down. We are not responsible for what other sites, Discord included, do. Nothing here takes away rights the law says you keep.

Changes

The date at the top shows the last change. If it matters, the join page says so.
